Independent firmware security research

Direct collaboration with Manish Sharma

# Firmware security. Inside the image.

Kedloc is my independent practice for software-focused firmware security. Engagements focus on supplied firmware images, selected software components and changes between releases.

No hardware testing or full IoT ecosystem assessments.

A defined software scope

Understand what is in your firmware, where to investigate and what changed.

## Three ways to work together

[

### Firmware image review

Examine an accessible image, identify components and review selected configuration. Receive documented observations and priorities.

### Focused firmware research

Investigate a specific binary, software component or security question within the firmware. Agree the depth before work begins.

### Firmware release review

Compare selected components or configuration across supplied releases. Review a proposed fix where the available evidence supports it.

Firmware is a developing specialty within this practice. Initial engagements are assessed against the target, available inputs and demonstrated capabilities.

Know what you are commissioning

## A firmware review. A clear boundary.

Start with an accessible firmware image or selected software component. A useful result explains the evidence, its significance and what remains unverified.

### Software analysis within the agreed scope

Image contents, embedded software, configuration and release changes. The precise checks depend on the supplied material and project question.

### Outside the service

No device teardown, physical firmware extraction, hardware interface testing, radio testing or hardware attacks. Kedloc does not provide full IoT ecosystem, cloud, companion-app or network assessments.

[Meet Manish Sharma](https://kedloc.com/about.html)

My background is in exploit development and low-level security research. I’m bringing that foundation to a focused firmware practice under Kedloc, while continuing to build and demonstrate the assessment workflow.

You work directly with me. Scope, feasibility, deliverables and fees are agreed before an engagement begins.
